	~~Notes: Charles Auguste Gallot was born on April 9, 1838 in Cherbourg (Manche). His father, chief naval commissioner, died in 1845 leaving a widow and three children~~. ~~A scholarship student, Charles continued his studies at Cherbourg College~~ . ~~At the age of 24,~~ in March 1862, he took over the bookshop of Madame Ribet . Like other booksellers during the Second Empire, he became interested in photography and opened a studio on Rue Tour Carré while his mother and sister ran the bookshop. Gallot, "only wanting to take care of his photography" sold the bookstore in March 1865. A month later, his sister, Angela Gallot, married the photographer Jules Bréchet. The following month, May 18, 1865, Charles Gallot to married Blanche Bréchet, sister of Jules. Bréchet continues his career in Lisieux and Caen. On August 10, 1866, the Commercial Court, declared Gallotbankrupt. This announcement was made by "Vigie de Cherbourg" but in the same newspaper, Gallot said that "the photography workshops of the rue de la Fontaine, will be open on Thursday 16 current". Galot moved to Paris ~~and in 1876~~, ~~opened a workshop at 1, boulevard~~ Beaumarchais. Little by little, he builds a good clientele among the people who count in Paris. He introduces himself as the photographer of the Société des gens de lettres, the French Academy and the Academy of Fine Arts. On April 12, 1885, a friend took him to the house where Victor Hugo was living his last days. Gallot make a beautiful portrait of the poet, less known than the post mortem by Nadar. The same year, Charles Gallot published the album "Personnalités contemporaines" where the portraits he made of Victor Hugo, Ferdinand de Lesseps, Eugene Labiche, Francisque Sarcey and twenty others complete with a brief biography of each. 			Im Alter von 24 Jahren, im März 1862, übernimmt Charles die Buchhandlung von Madame Ribet. Wie andere Buchhändler während des Zweiten Kaiserreichs interessiert er sich für die Fotografie und eröffnet ein Atelier in der Rue Tour Carré, während seine Mutter und seine Schwester die Buchhandlung führen.

			Gallot, der sich „nur noch um seine Fotografie kümmern wollte“, verkaufte die Buchhandlung im März 1865. Einen Monat später heiratet seine Schwester, Angela Gallot, den Fotografen Jules Bréchet.

			Im folgenden Monat, am 18. Mai 1865, heiratet Charles Gallot Blanche Bréchet, die Schwester von Jules.

			Bréchet setzt seine Karriere in Lisieux und Caen fort.

			Am 10. August 1866 erklärt das Handelsgericht Gallot für bankrott. Diese Ankündigung wurde von der „Vigie de Cherbourg“ gemacht, aber in der gleichen Zeitung sagte Gallot, dass „die Fotoateliers in der Rue de la Fontaine am Donnerstag, den 16. Januar, wieder geöffnet werden“. Galot zog nach Paris und eröffnete 1876 ein Atelier am Boulevard Beaumarchais.
